About our Waste Assessments

When communicating and educating people about sustainability, we bring a mix of:

  • Giving the facts in a way that people can really hear (guilt free!)
  • Providing information and choices that leave people empowered
  • Just the right amount of humour
  • Expert knowledge
  • Speaking from experience – our staff ‘walk the talk’ in their own lives
  • Practical solutions that make a difference
  • Listening to people’s ideas and concerns

We have a knack for educating people about sustainability without being too ‘heavy’.

Just ‘knowing’ something is not enough, people need a reason to change, and the change needs to be clear, simple and realistic.

Some examples of the sustainability education sessions we have developed include:

  • Running an education session for a Melbourne law firm. After completing a Sustainability Assessment of the company’s annual carbon emissions, we put ?? reams of paper in the middle on a large table to show staff how many reams of paper were being used per staff member, each year. We then gave specific, practical examples of how staff could reduce their paper usage.
  • We have worked with a local council to educate retail business owners and staff on the new waste management and recycling facilities implemented various CBD laneways. This included speaking with staff in both English and Chinese, and being present in the laneways during the day and night, and on weekends.
  • In office towers where we run recycling and waste management programs, we conduct min-waste audits in the office environment. We bring in common items of waste from an office, and go through each one, asking staff to nominate where the item goes. For example, where does the disposable coffee cup go? Recycling or landfill?
