Resource conservation and recycling programs
Our clients are often shocked when we give them the results of their waste and recycling audit.
Until your waste and recycling is audited, measured and assessed, you can’t get the full picture: like how much is being recycled, how much is going to landfill, and how much contamination is there in the recycling
For over 20 years, Great Forest Australia has worked with organisations, councils, office towers, retailers, shopping centres, hotels and food courts to get more waste recycled and out of our landfills.
Great Forest Australia’s team manage the whole process, from the initial audit, (check out our cool behind-the-scenes video) through to the implementation of the new program and post-implementation audit.
It takes so much of our precious resources to make, package and transport/refrigerate these products to consumers, the very least we can do it ensure we give it another life through recycling.

Our programs typically consist of the following:
Initial Audit and Report
Our audits consist of a detailed analysis of the site or organisation’s recycling program. We weigh and assess 24-hours worth of waste and recycling. The data from the audit is the basis of a comprehensive report, detailing the composition of the waste being generated at the site, recycling and contamination rates, how the new program will be implemented, how much this will cost, how many tonnes of GHG will be reduced, and what the projected recycling rate will be after implementation.
Implementation
The new program is introduced to all tenants at a program launch, and our team then meet with tenants individually. We install new infrastructure, train the cleaning staff in the new system, provide education and training to tenant/staff representatives, and roll out a suite of educational material and signage.
Post-Implementation assessment
After the new system has been running, a follow up audit is conducted. Using the base-line data from the initial assessment, we can measure increases in recycling and make any adjustments that might be required.
Ongoing Maintenance
An audit is performed every quarter, and recycling results are provided to the client and tenants on progress towards the recycling target. Our team follow up with tenants and resolve any issues eg high contamination.
