Monitoring and Reporting
Australia currently has a mix of compulsory, regulatory and voluntary mechanisms for reporting carbon emissions.
For many organisations, providing comprehensive, accurate data on carbon emissions is very complex, and can require significant time and resources.
Great Forest Australia are experts in calculating, tracking, verifying and reporting on carbon emissions, in particular for waste.
At Great Forest Australia we know how important the details are. Having worked in the sustainability industry for 20 years, our reporting, monitoring and advice provides clients with significant financial savings and improved performance.

Services
The recycling and waste management industry is moving towards a more reliable, transparent way of reporting weights, densities and volumes of both waste to landfill, and recycling streams.
This is partly in response to a growing need from clients for accurate data on carbon emissions from waste. Great Forest Australia partners many clients in tracking and reporting on these emissions.
Our monitoring and reporting services include:
- Ensuring compliance for various environmental and other regulations and adherence to requirements
- Review of monthly/quarterly reports from external contractors such as waste and recycling companies
- Reporting on site performance and non-compliance
- Validation reports that provide details on anomalies, discrepancies and opportunities for improvement
- Uploading data and information to external sources
Compliance, reporting and monitoring can sound like pretty a mundane exercise. However in our experience, the process of measuring and evaluating data, practices and performance can provide many opportunities for improvement.
Some examples:
- Tracking carbon emissions and costs for waste and recycling at a large office tower showed that organic waste being collected from tenants for recycled was going to landfill rather than being recycled.
- Monitoring of waste invoices at a shopping centre showed that there were significant errors in the invoicing system used at the site, with $10,000 of over charging over 2 years. These costs were recovered by the contractor.
- As part of the compliance review at a Materials Recovery Centre, it was discovered that some materials previous advised as being acceptable for recycling, were going to landfill.
