Between 2006 and 2008, Great Forest Australia undertook comprehensive waste audits and operational assessments of 15 office properties owned by ING Real Estate in multiple locations across Australia.
This work identified significant opportunities for improving each site’s waste management practices, reducing environmental impacts, and realising savings in waste disposal costs.
Following the initial audits, Great Forest Australia continued to work with ING Real Estate and its building managers and tenants to introduce these improvements, and implement a monitoring and reporting program providing quarterly updates on the buildings’ environmental achievements.
Over the program’s lifetime, there was an average increase of 76% in the properties’ waste diversion rate.
